RAGLEY Hall will be ringing out with the sweet sounds of the Alcester Singers when a summer concert is staged tonight.
This year the popular annual concert will comprise lively songs for a summer evening's entertainment as well as a tribute to the 200th anniversary of victory at Trafalgar, a selection of music from Gilbert and Sullivan's HMS Pinafore. The anniversary is particularly relevant for the choir and one member, Angela Morley, from King's Coughton, is a direct descendant of one of Nelson's sea captains who fought at Trafalgar.
As well as the music from the choir, which has been around for 25 years and boasts 60 members, another highlight will be a contribution from Benjamin Nash, this year's winner of the Alcester Singers' Young Musician of the Year Competition.
Tickets for the concert, against the picturesque backdrop of Ragley Hall, near Alcester, are £10 which will include supper in the Rose Garden. Call 01789 762487 or buy them on the door. It starts at 7.30pm.
