TWO friends have found a creative way of recycling their old copies of the Kidderminster Shuttle.
Cheryl Brown, 44, of New Road, Bewdley, and Lorraine Britnell, 37, of Blakebrook, Kidderminster, have been turning their newspapers into papier mache to make bowls and ornaments.
They started their new hobby before Christmas and set up a stall at a craft market in Stourbridge last weekend.
As well as the 30 bowls the friends have finished, they have also made pots and models of cats and dogs.
Mrs Brown, who also paints portraits of dogs, said: "We are both quite arty and we saw some bowls somewhere else and thought we could do that and one afternoon started having a go at making them."
She added: "I absolutely love it, for some obscure reason. I think it's because you can have a chat and a drink at the same time."
Mrs Brown explained their reason for using the Shuttle was that it was free. She said: "It's a paper that comes free through the door and we have a lot of them.
"We would like it to be a bit of a business. We have sold a couple already to friends and a few of the family have had some. We would like to do well but we won't be disheartened if we don't."
