YOUNGSTERS at Pershore High School have been rewarded for their outstanding achievements in education.

Last night's event, attended by West Worcestershire MP Sir Michael Spicer, highlighted the pupils' excellence in a variety of subjects and skills.

"It makes me feel both proud and humbled to reflect upon the range of achievements of so many of our students," said head teacher Clive Corbett,

"The awards and presentations made, acknowledge the contributions of pupils to sport, music, drama, technology, and the wider community, to name but five. In addition, excellence and effort in the classroom is recognised, as well as the achievements of those students who work hard to overcome learning difficulties."

Among the winners, Kathryn Natynczuk, aged 16, picked up a humanities award. Fourteen-year-old Sian Evans scooped the prize for the best geographer in Key Stage three. It was presented by Tom McDonald, chairman of Wychavon's Campaign to Protect Rural England.

For outstanding achievements in maths, 16-year-old Andrew Griffiths, Daniel Poole, aged 15, 14-year-old Hannah Train and 13-year-old Joshua Walker were also honoured.
