A GARAGE business that has been serving part of Worcester for 30 years could be closing.
Howard Wilson, who runs Holywell Motors, in Comer Road, St John's, is considering selling to a property developer.
A planning application has been lodged with Worcester City Council to build apartments on the site.
Mr Wilson, aged 59, said it was disappointing that he was having to review the firm's future. "We are busy, always have been, but I'm getting near retirement age," he added. "It's pretty said that it's come to this. We need to sell as a going concern and we don't have the value it would with planning permission for flats.
"We are considering relocation within the area but that is dependent on finding suitable premises. I don't know what will happen as yet, we're waiting to see the outcome of the planning application.
"But we will be staying open for a while longer."
If the plans are approved, then Herftfordshire-based construction company DMG Developments will demolish the existing buildings and replace them with a single block of 23 flats in its place.
One parking space per flat will be provided below ground at the rear of the building.
"It's going to be a top-notch, beautiful building that will upgrade the area," said Mr Wilson.
