SIXTY-FIVE people across Worcestershire are owed a collective total of £80,000 in unclaimed cash which is rightfully theirs.

And the organisation is urging people noo to be be so hasty about throwing away what may apppear to be junk mail.

This money is just part of an estimated £20bn in lost personal assets which are lying dormant or unclaimed in the UK.

For the past 18 years, Trust Research Services has made it its mission to find out who the money belongs to.

It has successfully recovered more than £50m for its clients, many of whom knew absolutely nothing about these assets.

Kevin Aylward, the managing director of TRS, said: "We've identified more than £44m in lost assets in the UK and that represents just the tip of the iceberg.

"It's crazy to think that many of these people are going out and buying Lottery tickets, unaware they are sitting on a very real nest egg. People get so much unsolicited junk mail these days, but anyone who does get a letter from us really needs to think carefully before they decide to throw it away."

A lost asset can mean anything from funds in a bank account, to stocks and shares, pensions and National Savings & Investment accounts.
