A POLICE canteen has been praised for doing its part for healthy hearts.
The restaurant used by staff at Worcester Police Station has won the nationally recognised Heartbeat Award for the healthy options it serves up in a hygienic and smoke-free setting.
The Castle Street station is only one of four nominations in Worcester. Others are the Alice Ottley Senior School on the Tything, Avery-Overall Residential Home in Barbourne and Caf Mela on Foregate Street.
The awards are all being made today by the community services portfolio holder at Worcestershire County Council, Derek Prodger, and the Worcester City Council's principal environmental health officer, Anita Fletcher.
Ms Fletcher said: "In considering suitable premises, we look for compliance with all relevant food hygiene legislation and a clean, safe environment. It's all about offering customers high quality and greater choice."
