HEREFORDSHIRE will hope for a rain-free second day at Colwall as they chase down Dorset's formidable first-innings total in the Minor Counties Cricket Championship.
The visitors held a strong overnight position after being asked to bat first, reaching 422-9 from their maximum 90 overs and picking up four batting points.
Dorset owe much to a fourth-wicket partnership of 151 between Glyn Treagus and Steve Selwood, who came together at the crease on 137-3.
Opener Treagus top-scored with 142 from 215 deliveries, including 28 boundaries, while Selwood fired 89 from 111 balls, with one six and five fours.
Big-hitting Darren Cowley added further misery to Herefordshire by blasting 76 off just 45 balls, including four sixes and eight fours.
The host's attack toiled away and collected the full four bowling points, with seamers Peter Trego and Chris Boroughs picking up their side's best figures with 4-61 and 2-62 respectively.
Herefordshire made 85-1 from the opening day's remaining 20 overs, with Richard Hall (39no) and Henry Langford (30no) both in the middle.
Droitwich and Netherton go head-to-head in the Worcestershire League KO cup final tonight.
Division One Spa take on their Division Two opponents at Kidderminster Victoria CC from 6.30pm.
