AROUND 5,000 spectators flocked to Shelsley Walsh over the weekend for the latest running of the famous hill climb.
Motorsport fans watched as 160 competitors took to the hill on both Saturday and Sunday.
Nic Mann set the fastest time on Saturday, completing the course in 26.84 seconds in his self-built four-wheel drive sports car.
Mac Hulbert was the quickest 24 hours later at the Vintage Sports Car Club meeting. He crossed the finish line just outside his record of 33.71 seconds in his ERA R4D, the car which held the pre-war record on many occasions.
Midland Automobile Club press officer Toby Moody hailed the successful event a good build-up to next month's centenary celebrations.
"It was a beautiful day, the weather was nice," he said.
"We had three class records with the pre-war cars yesterday and one class record on Saturday, which was the three-wheeler class record.
"It sets us up well for the big one in August.
"A lot of new people came yesterday who have never been before and they are looking forward to coming back."
