THESE comments are made in the light of the coverage being given to Sir Bob Geldof and Live 8.
I was today saddened to hear the news about a couple I know whose seven-year-old son has been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy.
I understand British and European scientists want to start a research programme as they may have identified the cells that cause the problems but need a means to deliver the treatment.
When we read about the money squandered in Africa and see the problems that families in Britain endure, why should we put up with a group of ageing rockers to use an event like this to inflate, not only their own personal egos, but also that of the politicians?
Why can't we have a Live 8 concert to focus on raising money to alleviate suffering and give hope to British people, their children and their families?
