A HOODED youth snatched a bag from a woman in the car park of Matalan in Redditch.

The black handbag, containing a mobile phone, purse and keys was grabbed from the woman as she walked from the Tunnel Drive store and across the car park on Sunday, June 26 at about 3.30pm.

As she was about to walk through a gap in the hedge she felt a tug on her left shoulder and turned round to see the young man run away with her bag in the direction of the store.

The youth was 19 or 20, about 5ft 11ins tall and wearing a light grey hooded top, with the hood worn up.

DC Dianne Knight from Redditch police said: "The victim, a woman in her 60's, was shaken by this incident but fortunately was not injured in any way."

DC Knight reminded residents to carry bags close to them and chose a well-lit open route whenever possible.
