SAM Round may be a newcomer to Studley Road Social Club's Angling Section but he wasted no time in claiming his first win.

The club's latest aggregate match was fished at Manor Farm Leisure Fishery's Windmill Pool on Saturday and Round topped the 32-man field with a fine 62lbs 9ozs of pellet-caught fish.

Carl Baker fishing a similar method for his 57-10 for second some way ahead of the rest of the field.

Pete Millard (37-02), Jim Willis (34-07), John Arkel (33-15) and Barry Blewett (31-07) completed the top six.

Section winners were: Arnie Duggan (31-03), Glyn Blewett (29-08), Adie Powell (29-02) and Dave Hinde (23-13).

n The Post Offices Angling Club held their latest fishing match on Sunday at Shewley Pool.

Adam Wade took top prize with 37lbs 8ozs of carp up to 4lbs, fishing on pellet at 11 metres.

Alan Dawson finished second with 25lbs 8ozs on the scales made up of small carp on the maggot close in the side.

Steve Turnpenny was third with a catch of 21lbs 5ozs ahead of Barry Blewett (20lbs 2ozs) and Glyn Blewett (17lbs 12ozs).

n Dark Lane Angling Club fished their second aggregate and Carpenter Shield on the Arrow on Saturday.

Tony Sabin returned to winning ways with a fine 16lb 13oz including a 7lb 2oz barbel.

Rob Stokes again came second with 13lb 13oz followed by Barry Feldhahn with 12lb 12oz.
