A ROAD accident involving a bus and lorry caused long rush-hour queues for commuters leaving Worcester. It was one of several crashes around the area in yesterday's torrential rain.

A 758 Easylink bus taking passengers between Tenbury Wells and Worcester was involved in the collision with a white Ford Iveco lorry and three cars at Top Barn Farm on Hallow Road.

One lane of traffic was blocked for about 90 minutes after the accident at 3.30pm yesterday.

Anybody who saw the vehicles being driven immediately before the collision should call Worcester police on 08457 444888, quoting 280S/050705.

Nobody was seriously injured.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old girl was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital with suspected spinal injuries after a collision on the A4133 Ombersley to Droitwich Road at 3.10pm yesterday.

Less than half an hour later, the air ambulance was called to an accident involving an HGV and a saloon car, in which a person was trapped on the A49 at Ashton, near Leominster.

Two people were also taken to hospital following an accident involving two cars in Stourport-on-Severn in the early hours of this morning. The casualties were taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital after the crash which happened at the junction between Wilden Lane and Hillary Road.
