CHILDREN from main stream and special schools in Worcestershire took part in the third annual Worcestershire Football Association Disability Festival at University College, Worcester.
Around 250 children formed 32 teams in the event, including those representing nine special schools in the county. All received a medal from WFA development manager Andy Norman and the winning teams took trophies back to their schools.
That included the girls with moderate learning difficulties from the Vale of Evesham School.
"This was the third and best event we have organised so far," Norman declared.
"The number of teams in action demonstrated the interest these children have in football and there are now opportunities available for them to play regularly.
"To see the pleasure on the children's faces when playing in the games and receiving their medals makes all the organisation more than worthwhile. Thanks are due to Kidderminster Harriers and the Pershore College Academy for their help."
Any footballer with a disability can now play regularly for the Worcester All Stars Club who are looking to enter the West Midlands Regional League next season. Contact Derek Cunningham on 01905 560445 for more details or e-mail Wdfc@teconsult.com
