MATTHEW Corby became the youngest recorded centurion in the history of Shipston Cricket Club last Sunday and in doing so relieved his dad Andy of that prestigious honour!
Aged 16 years and 250 days, Matthew eclipsed his dad's effort in 1977 by just 22 days when scoring 137 against Birmingham YMCA at London Road last Sunday.
Corby, who has struggled for runs in the Cotswold Hills League recently, helped his side amass a daunting 284-6 before another youngster, 14-year-old Alec Seys impressed with the ball with an eight-over stint that realised figures of 2-18 in the visiting side's friendly reply of 182-8.
