AFTER the soaring success of last year's event, Ilmington's cricketers are gearing up to host their second annual Twenty/20 Day on Sunday, July 17.

This year's event has been boosted by the addition of funding courtesy of Sport Relief and, as part of Ilmington's 'Howzat 4 Starters' programme, youngsters will be offered a coaching session from a Warwickshire player and coach between 12 noon and 3pm.

Spectators, meanwhile, will be able to enjoy not only a fast and furious cricket tournament, sponsored this year by C & C Daflax Scaffolding, but also a Caribbean Steel Band and cuisine, hot tub and refreshments ranging from Pimms, champagne and beer to a pig roast.

Teams taking part include the West Indian Wanderers from Coventry, Kissing Tree CC, a Presidents XI and the host club's 2004 champions.

The games will feature all the usual fun and games associated with the national Twenty20 Cup, including commentary, musical sound bites as batsmen take the crease, hit boundaries or bite the dust.

There will also be cash prizes for spectators who catch six hits over the ropes.

The action starts at 10.30am and entry is £2 per car.
