The Canine Society is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, and the second show of the series was held on June 1 at All Saints Hall, Burcot Lane.

This was judged by Mrs Eileen Pain, our vice chairman, and 96 dogs were present, an excellent entry for our evening show.

Members of the local ringcraft section of the club had a very successful evening, and won most of the top awards.

Best in Show went to Mrs Jameson's two-year-old Pembroke corgi bitch. Reserve Best in Show was another bitch, Mr Thornton's border terrier from Stourbridge. Best Opposite Sex and Best Puppy were local exhibitors Mrs and Miss Beston's seven-month-old clumber spaniel. Reserve Best Puppy was Miss King's German spitz, from Acocks Green.

Other Bromsgrove winners were: Mr and Mrs McMillan's Siberian husky - 2nd Working Open, Mrs Nokes' English toy terrier - 3rd Puppy Bitch/2nd Toy Open, Miss Southwell's boxer - 4th Junior/4th Novice.

Our next show will be held on September 24. Anyone wishing to train their dogs for the showring is welcome to attend classes held on Wednesdays at 8pm at All Saints Hall, Burcot Lane, Bromsgrove.
