On June 8 our annual garden meeting began by visiting Mr Geoff Webb's beautiful garden in Fockbury on a perfect early summer evening.
Lovingly created by Mr Webb over a number of years, the garden has areas on different levels each having their own character and stocked with a wonderful display shrubs, trees, flowers and a magnificent display of hostas in pots around a paved terrace.
The vegetable garden is flourishing with healthy produce. A raised pond with water feature, fountain and plants was a welcome place to sit for a few moments. The garden is open to the public on July 16 and 17 and Fairfield WI will be serving tea and cakes.
After the visit, members returned to Fairfield Village Hall for a short business meeting. Shirley Walker, our president, welcomed back Mary Fairbairn, who has been recuperating from her hip operation. Mary thanked everyone for all their good wishes, cards and presents and said it shows what a friendly and caring WI we have here in Fairfield. Hilda Cleaver was pleased to announce £161 was raised at her Crack Cancer Coffee Morning. The annual outing will be on August 10 to Evesham Country Park.
Our next meeting is on July 13 when Mrs S Williams will be talking to us on "tin pot teaching" and the competition will be "a souvenir from Africa." Please come along and join us. You will be very welcome.
