CANAL supporters are looking forward to starting the restoration project with their massive £3million grant announced in the Advertiser last week.
Members of the Canals Trust say that work could start as early as November and while £1million still needs to be found, they are confident that it can be raised.
Free boat trips are being offered tomorrow to celebrate the scheme starting.
Townsfolk are invited to climb aboard the boat Roman of the Dragonfly Project, which was fully renovated and also converted to electric power in 2000.
The boat is designed to give townsfolk the opportunity to see the canals from a more environmentally friendly perspective and to understand their role in keeping Droitwich Spa green.
To join a trip people are invited to turn up to Vines Park on the Saltway, between 10am - 4pm.
Trips will run weather permitting and no unaccompanied children will be allowed on the boat. Call the Dragonfly Project on 07710 175215 for details.
