FOUR Bromsgrove residents had the time of their lives when they scooped tickets to London's Live 8 concert.

South Bromsgrove High School dinner lady Karren Sherry and her 14-year-old daughter Lisa Davis won a pair of tickets to the show after Lisa sent a text message to the organisers.

Lucky John Kelly and his girlfriend Emma Millichamp, from Lickey End, won tickets to the prestigious golden circle through a website competition.

They all travelled down to London on Friday night for the Saturday show which featured top acts such as U2, Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd and The Who.

Karren, from Rowan Close, said: "We both knew this was going to be something that we would remember for the rest of our lives, not just because it was the greatest gathering of musicians, but that we could maybe make a difference by making poverty history."

After arriving at Hyde Park at 2am on Saturday morning the pair had a long wait, but managed to run for half a mile to get a prime view only six rows from the front. John said he was right at the front next to the barriers and his family and friends saw him on TV.

"It was fantastic. We were next to celebrities such as Ricky Jervais and Gwyneth Paltrow. As a big U2 and Paul McCartney fan the best moment was when they sang together, it was a once in a lifetime experience," he said.
