THE third Shakespeare Qual-ifier was fished last Saturday at Hampton Ferry and Eve-sham Town Waters where a strong field of 61 anglers fought a hard contest to find a winner.
Local angler Trevor Chalk was first after weighing in 11lbs 11ozs off peg 60 on the Ferry. Fishing with a pole and worm he netted a bream (5.6.0) and then used some hemp seed to catch some roach,
A close second on Ferry peg 58 Bait Box's Rob Badham who had three beautiful tench and a few bits for 11lbs 3ozs, using a pole using maggots and castors.
Newbury angler and fishing for W B Clarke Van den Eynde was Steve Pallett who had 9lbs 15ozs off Ferry peg 4.
Dave Packwood was fourth with 8lbs 10ozs off peg 34 on the Town stretch ahead of Ray Malle from Wisbech fishing for Mark One Sensas who fished on peg 54 on the Ferry and netted 8lbs 9ozs.
Joining Chalk at the Shakes-peare Championships on August 27 are Robert South and Jeff Spiers.
