REDDITCH athletes are looking forward to an extra Special Olympics event this summer after a cash boost of £1,200.
The Advertiser's US parent company, Gannett, donated the cash to Redditch Special Olympics team following their November appeal for funding for the National Summer Games.
The 18-strong team will travel to Glasgow on Friday to compete in a range of sports, including football, gymnastics, athletics and basketball.
The money will help pay for transport, accommodation and entrance fees for volunteers and athletes.
The voluntary group provides year-round sport and recreation for people aged eight and onwards with a learning disability.
For details about the group's work, call Ron or Elaine Daykin on 542831.
