A CONTINGENT of Arden club members visited Wyre Mill to take part in an AASC event where Niall Campbell and Jane Smee (Enterprise) retained the Wardell Trophy.
Meanwhile at home in Defford, Andrew Potts set what proved to be a tricky course in the variable wind conditions.
The first race was the fifth in the Pursuit Series and a good start by Dave Bryden (Herron) saw him hold on to the lead for more than 50 minutes of the one-hour race.
However, the final result saw Eric Ison (Laser) in top spot having started last due to his handicap, meaning that he had sailed through the entire fleet!
Keith Stevens (Comet) was second, third was Dave Bryden with Val Jolly (Topper) fourth and Dave and Pauline Appleby (GP14) fifth.
Race two was the longer distance race taking the fleet two miles downstream to Strensham Lock and back again.
The breeze was steadier with Potts acting as crew in his own Enterprise for debutant Keith Hodges who has just completed the training course.
A lively start saw Eric Ison and Keith Stevens break away from the pack. They maintained the lead right to the line but, when the handicaps were worked out, it was Bryden's Heron in second ahead of Hodges with Ison in pole position.
