FOR several years now, I have enjoyed the curious sensation of boiling blood when reading the Advertiser's Letters Page, attributed in no small part to the Rev Andy Kelso.
His intolerance, ignorance, and blind hatred of ancient and paganistic religions I have experienced in a variety of forms, at my old school where he is a governor, in this newspaper and through members of his flock.
Had Mr Kelso a grasp of Christian history, basic Christian theology (surely expected of a minister), or even the contents of the Bible, he would surely understand judgements he and his like continue to pass on others can only be met with a wry smile as it is his faith that, believe it or not, that reveals itself again and again to be lacking in the very truths, values and virtues it purports to carry.
Mr Kelso fears ''God is dead'' in the hearts of today's society. Maybe so, but to preach to us about the value of our Christian heritage is just plain ignorance of the truth - it was his type of Christian Brother that destroyed our true heritage hundreds of years ago.
I smile to think the new ''blasphemy'' law proposed in Parliament, as unacceptably ludicrous as it may be, may at least make Mr Kelso think twice before he again preaches, as he did to me three years ago - Harry Potter is the Devil's work (how Anton LaVey would laugh at that) - or to exclude any polytheistic religion from his ''inter-faith'' forums, as he has until now.
