Try these floral beauty treatments that will leave you looking naturaland healthy this spring.
You can always tell when spring is almost here - the birds are chirping, the days are sunnier and Easter eggs appear on supermarket shelves. The blossoming of flowers, however, is the real giveaway, so what better way to celebrate the arrival of the new season than with some floral-inspired beauty products?
"Flowers bring so many life-enhancing benefits to any beauty routine," says skincare expert Liz Earle. "From seeing the actual flower to smelling its unique fragrance, they work on different levels. I'm an old romantic, and love using flowers like rose and orange blossom, which are intense and feminine, as well as jasmine, which has that extra something. It's a real privilege to work with them -- and if I wasn't doing what I do, I'd probably be a florist."
JASMINE
Jasmine is one of the most important flowers used in perfumery -- its intense floral aroma helps produce feelings of optimism, confidence and euphoria and it can invigorate and help lift depression.
Tesco's moisturising and soothing Finest Softening Silk Bath, £2.50, and Pevonia Botanica Aromatherapy face oil, £14.50, both contain jasmine, which is best for dry, sensitive skins.
The products in RVB Natura Flower range include jasmine extract and are ideal for sensitive and reactive skins. Try the Refreshing Serum, £23.95, Cleansing Emulsion, £18.95, or Protective Cream with SPF10, £21.50 (01282 616 611).
Jasmine is also found in make-up such as Aveda Petal Essence Cheek Tint, £18 (0870 034 2380), which contains aromatic waxes from jasmine flowers -- or slather B Love Body lotion, £11 (01202 493789/ www.bnevertoobusytobebeautiful.com) all over.
Marc Jacobs Blush, £36.50 at The Perfume Shop, has top notes of fragile jasmine nectar for a light fresh scent, while both Pupa Pupart Fuchsia Flower, £9.95 (020 8398 9744), and Antonia's Flowers eau de toilette, £42 from Space NK (020 8740 2085/www.spacenk.com) both contain jasmine notes.
GERANIUM
Geranium has an uplifting subtle fragrance and a soothing, moisturising effect on the skin. It's an excellent tonic, encouraging the elimination of toxins and can help relieve fluid retention.
Rose-scented geranium oil has wonderful toning and balancing properties and is frequently used to combat dry, irritated or fragile skin. Its exquisite smell is also very therapeutic.
Skincare Cafe Rose Geranium moisturiser, £14.99 (0870 443 2744/www.skincarecafe.com), contains a high percentage of rose geranium oil, while Liz Earle Energising Hip & Thigh Gel, £14.95, and Cath Collins Velvety hand cream, £11.50 (01803 813 064/www.cathcollins.com), contain rose geranium.
Re-energise yourself with This Works Energy Bank bath and shower oil, £30 or 48 Euros (0845 2300 499), or slather on Bobbi Brown geranium-scented Extra Soothing Balm, £38 or 61.50 Euros -- a multi-use balm that can be used anywhere.
ORANGE
"The exquisitely fragranced orange flower water is produced from the blossoms of the bitter orange tree. Neroli, also known as bitter orange flower oil, comes from orange blossom and has uplifting and restorative properties and helps improve the skin's micro-circulation," says Liz.
Give skins a thorough cleanse with Champneys Super Rich Floral Facial Balm, £12 at Sainsbury's, and Liz Earle Orange Flower Botanical body wash, £10, both containing orange flower, or Aveda Caribbean Therapy Flower Water, £12, with neroli.
Decleor Hydra Floral range contains orange blossom -- Aromessence Neroli, £36, and Flower Nectar moisturising cream, £32.50 (020 7313 8780/www.decleor.co.uk) are perfect for all skins.
Laboratoire Remede Anti-Ageing Complete Treatment, £78 from Bliss, and Lush Mirror Mirror neck and decolletage cream, £7.50, have orange blossom extract to work magic on ageing skins.
Orange blossom is popular in perfumes, and is featured in Space NK Melodrama, £38, L by Lolita Lempicka, £29 (020 7620 2333), and Courtesan by House of Worth, £35 at branches of House of Fraser, Selfridges and Beatties.
ROSE
The humble rose has many beneficial properties.
"The damask rose is the oldest of all rose varieties and is highly fragrant and rich in essential oil," said Liz.
"Used for its astringent properties, rose oil is cooling and relaxing and helps create a sense of wellbeing and vitality. Its rejuvenating properties help relieve dry, inflamed and itching skin."
REN Damask Rose body cream with rosehip seed oil, £28.50, Dr Hauschka Rose body moisturiser, £20 (01386 792 642/ www.
drhauschka.co.uk), and Naked Rose With No Clothes face wash, £4.69 at Boots, all contain damask roses.
Neal's Yard Remedies Rose facial oil, £11.75 (01747 834 634), Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator, £22 or 37 Euros, and Lush Ring Of Roses shower butter cream, £2.85, are all made with rose absolute.

And Yves Saint Laurent's limited edition Roses Des Vergers, £34, has notes of wild rose and pears.
