PLANS have been announced to improve all the watercourses in the district into areas people can enjoy visiting and be proud of while protecting the environment and local wildlife.
One of these is the Spadesbourne Brook, which for decades has been used as a rubbish dump. It could become a sweetly flowing town attraction if the biggest ever attempt to clean it up is successful - and to that end district councillor Diane Campbell (Whitford) is now chairing a recently formed all-party task group to lead the efforts.
Cllr Campbell says she sees the group acting as a link between the various agencies who can, given the will, transform the brook into an amenity to be envied. These include the county council, Severn Trent Water and the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust.
Surprisingly the brook is a county stronghold for the enchanting and endangered water vole.
