DESCRIBED as the Glastonbury of Food Festivals, Abergavenny Food Festival takes place over the weekend of September 16-17.
This year's programme goes global with a celebration of the culinary traditions of China, India, Italy and Eastern Europe, alongside the best of Wales. It continues to take a hard look at ethical issues surrounding food production.
People who are passionate about food can meet a growing artisan class of skilled producers, farmers and cooks with zeal for the real thing.
It will be a sensory delight with well over 100 market stalls, masterclasses, demonstrations, tutored tastings, walks and talks across half a dozen main venues.
The culmination of Saturday's entertainment - The Great Outdoor Party - is a first for the festival, with great food and vibrant music. For those who would prefer something more sedentary, The Borough Theatre is running a performance of Captain Corelli's Mandolin.
The website is up and running with details of this year's programme at www.abergavennyfoodfestival.com and tickets are available from the box office on 01873 850805.
