HOT new musical development Ska Cubano is out to impress at Birmingham's Cannon Hill Park on Friday.
As part of Sounds in the Round 2006, Ska Cubano will appear in the open air arena at mac, providing the meshing of Jamaican rhythms with crazy Cuban brass.
The style is billed as an alternative cultural history, as the triumph of the Cuban Revolution had reduced Cuban and Jamaican cultural interaction.
The ''mission'' was led by Peter Scott of casinosounds and Natty Bo of London ska band Top Cats, who went to Santiago de Cuba to preach ska.
After several visits, ska culture was established in Santiago with new arrangements of Cuban classics and bands performing in a growing following.
The cream of the musicians then came together to perform a ska supergroup, Ska Cubano.
Tickets are available from the box office on 0121 4403838.
