THE Jobcentre Plus is moving to a new location in Evesham.
The centre that helps people get work, while supporting employers in filling their vacancies quickly is moving to a bigger premises into the Contact Centre. It will be open to the public on Thursday, June 29.
The staff of 25 from the Abbey Road location will join the police, Wychavon District Council and Evesham town council along with the Pension Service and the Probation Service.
The current unemployment register at Evesham Jobcentre is approximately 650 people, including 80 people from Pershore. Since April 2005, to date, Evesham Jobcentre has helped almost 1,000 local people into work.
Manager of Evesham Jobcentre Jill Howe said: "Evesham Jobcentre Plus will provide a complete service to Jobseekers and employers within one building.
"People will be able to receive advice on working age benefits and meet personal advisers who can provide tailored help to each individual with all aspects of looking for work and training opportunities.
"Working with partners will allow us to build on our successes this year, which including assisting 112 lone parents and 124 people with a disability or health problems into employment."
The Jobcentre Plus service that started in Herefordshire and Worcestershire last year was developed to provide a service for individuals and employers.
In 2002 The Employment Service and The Benefits Agency combined to become Jobcentre Plus, part of the Department for Work and Pensions.
Jobcentre Plus was designed to bring together employment and benefit services for people of working age with a key element in the government's objectives to help people based on, work for those who can and support hose who cannot.
