CLASSICAL music lovers will be in for a treat when the Orchestra of the Swan begins a residency in Redditch on Friday, April 7.

A concert featuring the premiere of a work commissioned by the orchestra from Dobrinka Tabakova and the premiere of a work written by A-level music students at Kingsley College will be on offer.

Soprano Claire Booth will sing Sonnets to Sundry Notes of Music. The text for this cycle of four songs is taken from the second half of The Passionate Pilgrim, Shakespeare's 1599 anthology of poems by himself and others including Christopher Marlowe.

At 6.30pm at the Big K, Kingsley College, there will be a pre-concert discussion between David Le Page, David Curtis and Dobrinka Tabakova before the concert at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £7.50 (£4.50 concessions) and are available by calling Redditch Tourist Information Centre on 65203.
