HISTORY SOCIETY: The annual meeting of Moreton-in-Marsh and District Local History Society was held at the Women's Institute Hall, when the following were re-elected: chairman Guy Stapleton, treasurer John Barnes, secretary Margaret Shepard, committee Ray Poulton, Jo Stanley, Mike Rees and Paul Webber. Ann Morgans was welcomed as a new member of the committee. The office of President was left vacant for the time being, Mrs. Susanna Peake having resigned. The Rev Ralph Mann, Dr. David Edwards, Zoe Lockyer and David Day were elected vice-presidents.
The chairman offered the thanks of the society to Mrs. Peake for her services as president, and also to David Day for his valuable work in collecting subscriptions and acting as publicity officer.
The meeting was followed by Mornee Button, who gave a slide show covering the whole of Gloucestershire, entitled Forest and Vale and High Blue Hill. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, April 12 when Ray Leigh, chairman of the Gordon Russell Trust, will give a talk on Gordon Russell - the Broadway Adventure.
