AS confusing and convoluted as this Guy Ritchie film is, it doesn't take away from the fact that this was actually a darn good watch.
Jake Green (Jason Statham) gets out of prison after a seven-year stretch of solitary confinement for a crime he didn't commit after refusing to give up the name of the real criminal.
He tries to extract his revenge on the man who put him there, Dorothy Macha (Ray Liotta), and from there the story descends into a mad helter-skelter of twisted incidents which more people become embroiled in than you can actually remember the names of.
In fact, this confusion of who actually does what against whom and, more importantly, why, is where the film loses a little of its appeal.
That, and the numerous flashbacks, Guy Ritchie's attempt at creating profound sections of script, and a oriental cartoon sequence which made my mind boggle.
But the ensemble piece was actually interesting and despite not being satisfied with the outcome and lack of any proper explanations, I watched the film with avid interest and was rooted to the end.
