We had a meeting last week for everybody who wanted to run an event in the Worcester Festival.
There was a pretty good number of people there, and many more who did not come because they are old hands at running festival events, and did not need the information.
The festival is very inclusive and we are keen to involve organisations from every conceivable part of Worcester life.
Remember, last year there were nearly 300 events, and more than 100,000 people saw an event. But we want more.
So, where are you, landlords of Worcester?
For the third year running last year, not one pub registered a festival event.
Where are you, sports clubs? Where are Worcester Rugby Club and Worcester Football Club?
Where are you WIs and Rotarians and Lions and Soroptomists?
Where are you Scouts and Guides and Cubs and Brownies?
Where are you, shops and retailers?
Where are you big firms?
We want you all to get involved.
Let me remind you of the festival's mission statement. "The Worcester Festival is not a music festival, nor indeed an arts festival, but just... a festival.
"The festival is for the people of Worcester and the surrounds. It is a series of partnerships between large cross-sections of the community, an umbrella for a huge range of activities.
"It is a coming together of people. It is an opportunity to stage an event, or to attend a large selection of both professional and community events. It is a celebration of life, and of Worcester and its people."
If you need information or would like a chat, log on to www.worcesterfestival.co.uk or ring me on 01905 726969 for a chat and an information pack. I'm waiting for your call.
