VILLAGE PLAN AND DESIGN STATEMENT: The drop-in day at the village hall last Saturday prompted a good response from residents. A number of village organisations had put great effort into producing displays of their activities and their interest in the village's future. Members were on hand to give further details of the various activities and members of the parish council including chairman Clive Allen were present to answer questions, as was John Redman, chairman of the village hall management committee, Peter Oliver, chairman of the village plan committee, giving his views on the day's success, spoke of the sensible answers and comments he had found on examining the questionnaires which were handed out during the day.
CREATIVE SERVICE: An unusual service on the theme of Creation was organised by the members of St James' Church in the village hall. This was the first of a series of themed services to be held in a venue other than the church. The Joyful Noisemakers provided the music and the service was taken by the Rev Fran Battin. Members of the congregation now have the task of planting and rearing the seeds they were given, in readiness for presenting the results at Harvest Festival later in the year.
