TWO of the most popular and glamorous faces on the classical music scene are performing at Malvern Theatres next month.
The Operababes will join guest singers from Covent Garden and the ENO for A Night at the Opera on Saturday, March 18.
In Spring 2001, soprano Rebecca Knight and mezzo soprano Karen England were busking outside Covent Garden when they were snapped up by an impressed talent scout.
After performing at the FA Cup Final and in front of a TV audience of 500 million at the Champions League final in Milan, they were approached by five major record labels. Sony won and the Operababes were born.
Their debut album, Beyond Imagination, went straight to the top of the UK classical charts and stayed there for eleven weeks.
In A Night at the Opera, Rebecca and Karen perform some of their favourite operatic moments and will be accompanied by a variety of special guests. The concert features operatic highlights from La Boheme, Marriage of Figaro, Carmen, and many more.
Their second album, Renaissance, is to be released on March 20, just after their performance at Malvern Theatres.
Tickets for the production are available from the box office on 01684 892277 or online at www.malvern-theatres.co.uk.
