KIDDERMINSTER Town Hall will be rocking with the sound of Mike Sanchez and the 11-piece Rhythm and Blues Revue band next week.

The multi-talented singer, guitarist and pianist will perform at the venue on Saturday, March 11.

Sanchez has travelled around the world and has been in the company of some of the most renowned performers, including Bill Wyman and Eric Clapton.

He began playing the piano at the age of 11 and as a teenager taught himself guitar and formed rockabilly trio, The Rockets.

In 1984, he formed the Big Town Playboys after being introduced to instrumentalist, Andy Silvester, by Led Zeppelin.

He has recorded several albums including Crazy Legs with guitar-great, Jeff Beck, in 1993 and been involved in film soundtrack producing and recording, most recently for the movie I'll Be There in 2003, which starred Charlotte Church and Craig Ferguson.

Blues in Britain magazine voted Sanchez UK Keyboard Player of the Year for four consecutive years.

The 42-year-old has been recording a double album of The Mike Sanchez Rhythm & Blues Revue band with special guests, as well as an album with his four-piece band and Grammy Award-winning country rock legend, Albert Lee.

His last performance at the town hall was in 2004 when he appeared solo and this year's show will mark the end of a celebratory year organised to mark the 150th anniversary of the town hall.

Councillor Nathan Desmond, Wyre Forest District Council's cabinet member for community and leisure services, said: "This concert is a fitting finale to this festival year celebrating the 150th anniversary of a key heritage site.

"Mike Sanchez is sure to create a memorable occasion. Get your tickets and prepare to let your hair down," he added.

Tickets are available from the town hall on 01562 732158. For further information about the singer, visit www.mikesanchez.com
