Is it just me, or is anyone else appalled by the damage being done to the beautiful Avon.
The fishing platforms look hideous and they spoil the whole look of the bank and the river.
My Father was a keen angler but he had a fishing stool which at the end of the day he picked up and left the bank as it had been that morning before he'd arrived.
I live further up the river and last spring two men arrived and scythed away a five foot space every 10 yards. There were moor hens with a nest but this was of no interest to them. Then as if to add insult to injury they poured weed killer all over the site.
I was appalled and e-mailed LANT and the Birmingham Anglers Assn. Needless to say I was ignored by both.
The article mentioned that the platforms would make it less dangerous! It's hardly an extreme sport.
So come now, if Birmingham anglers want to come and enjoy our beautiful river let them enjoy it as it is not on little wooden trays!
