Sales assistants, chefs, drivers and cleaners are among the jobs firms find it hardest to fill, according to new research published this week.
A survey of 2,000 businesses showed that companies also have problems finding engineers, restaurant staff and accountants.
The study has been published by the recruitment firm Manpower to mark the launch of a new service which will targeting the finance industry.
Mark Cahill, managing director of Manpower, said: "The launch of Manpower Professional is a direct response to a growing client demand for financial and executive staff, increasingly at a senior level."
Nearly 40 per cent of employers are having difficulty filling positions due to the lack of suitable talent.
