YOU can keep fit, lose weight and look and feel great at Worcester's premier fitness centres. Nunnery Wood Sports Complex and St John's Sports Centre are two of the city's most popular sport and leisure facilities.
In 2005, they were recognised as the two joint highest scoring dual use facilities in England as part of the Quest National Performance Assessment Scheme.
The centres offer a range of excellent facilities, an extensive number of fitness classes and recreation activities to suit everyone - from children's parties and holiday camps, trampolining and five-a-side football to specialist coaching in squash, football, athletics and much, more. There are more than 30 fitness classes taking place each week at Nunnery Wood and the city council has launched some exciting new classes at St John's Sports Centre which are proving very popular.
You can start the week with Viva St John's. Dawn Scriven's Latin aerobics class takes place on Monday evenings between 7pm and 8pm. It's an exciting class that uses a fusion of Latin American and salsa moves, with a modern routine set to the latest salsa sound tracks that should give you that fabulous J-Lo look in no time at all!
On Tuesdays, at the same time, Pauline Smith is taking Aerobics for All, an uplifting and motivating cardiovascular workout that incorporates high and low impact moves with a great soundtrack. The class is suitable for both men and women.
Wendy Green is taking body toning classes on Wednesday evenings between 6pm and 7pm. Re-energise with this effective, all over body conditioning class that concentrates on all of those problem areas. Burn those calories away with this complete all-over workout.
And last, but by no means least, Tina Donkin is taking a Dancaecise class between 7pm and 8pm. This is an aerobic experience with a funky dance flavour! Enjoy an energetic aerobics session using dance steps and great tunes. Suitable for all shapes, sizes and ages, you'll be dancing like Madonna within a few weeks! There are a range of membership packages at affordable rates to suit everyone with the Advance Card scheme offering 25 per cent and 50 per cent discounts on normal rates, whether you pay per session or take advantage of the convenience of monthly direct debit options.
"Why not drop in to one of our centres, take a tour and have a chat with our friendly, professional staff," said Mike Worsnop, Worcester City Council's recreation business manager. "Whatever your interest, or fitness level we will be able to help you with all your fitness goals."
