A team of girls from King Edward VI High School for Girls, Edgbaston, has won first prize in a competition at Birmingham University.
Last year was Einstein Year because it was 100 years since the brilliant physicist wrote his famous research papers (and 50 years since he died).
To mark Einstein Year, the university physics department launched The Big Physics Quiz, which is now set to be an annual event.
More than 50 teams from schools in the West Midlands entered the competition and spent the morning session answering physics questions in a 'pub-quiz' style.
In the afternoon session, the highest scoring teams from the morning rounds competed in a final in which speed of response was as important as knowing the answers. In a nail-biting finish, the girls from King Edward VI High School narrowly beat into second place a team from Warwick School and came away with a host of prizes.
Budding Einsteins: Rachel Dunstan, Shantal Deepak, Bethany Allen and Upasana Bhaumik were the winning team from King Edward VI.
