Christmas in...Evesham
THE Christmas lights switch-on ceremony in Evesham has been a much-anticipated event in recent years but this year, it is all set to go one step further and provide a whole day of celebration.
There are nothing like Christmas illuminations in town on a dark, chilly night to warm the heart and stir that Christmas feeling of excitement and anticipation.
This year's Merry Christmas Evesham Revels take place from 11am to 7pm on Sunday, November 20, when a day of special events will surround the traditional mayor's duty of flicking the switch and bathing the town in festive lights - at 5.30pm sharp.
Shops will be opening their doors extra hours and there will be a pig and turkey roast in the street while around town throughout the day, there will be music and entertainment from The Bear radio road-show and from traditional Morris Dancers.
There will be a street fair for children and a craft fair in the town hall and of course, Father Christmas will be joining in the fun, meeting little ones in the Riverside Shopping Centre and hearing plenty of seasonal wishes.
At switch-on time, there will also be traditional carols and plenty of fun with the return of the popular Marco the Clown.
And to top it all, there will be free parking for the day so the fun can be enjoyed by people from all over the area.

Pershore
PERSHORE always produces a pretty dis-play of lights stringing across the town to give everyone that Christmassy feeling.
This year's switch-on ceremony will be on Thursday, November 24, at 4.30pm in Broad Street.
Then, just a week before Christmas, on Saturday, December 18, the town will be enjoying its own Christmas Fayre and Farmers Market, offering all kinds of seasonal delights from 10am to 3pm in the middle of town.
Broadway
BROADWAY in Lights will be the subject of another festive event, this time on Friday, December 2.
Villagers and visitors can enjoy carriage rides, a brass band, a piper, carol singers, mulled wine and stalls, while there will be plenty of late-night shopping on offer in the picturesque surroundings.
