When a bad mood sets in at work, most people grit their teeth, gulp down another coffee and carry on. But if constant grumpiness is affecting your performance and team workers, how do you lift your mood? The Being Well Psychotherapy and Stress Management Centre has these self-help techniques:
Take regular breaks at work and plan your work each morning.
Pare down as many unnecessary or 'can be done later' tasks in your life.
Read e-mails at set times each day and take advantage of voicemail.
Ask for help or delegate if possible.
Laugh (at yourself too!)
Eat regularly and indulge in good quality food rather than junk.
Cut down on caffeine and nicotine, which could make you jumpy.
Take exercise - swimming is especially good to relieve stress.
Make a special effort to remain in contact with friends.
If problems persist, talk over your concerns with a trusted colleague or manager.
