A NEW procedure that will make moving home easier and quicker has been welcomed by Worcester-based solicitors Harrison Clark.
The Government is set to announce the content of Home Information Packs later this month, which are expected to have the transaction time.
Faye Greene, a spokeswoman for Harrison Clark, said: "It currently takes about eight weeks between acceptance of an offer and the exchange of contracts in England and Wales, compared to an overseas average of four.
"The new HIPs should speed up the process for buyers and sellers of residential property, as well as helping remove 'hidden' problems that invariably occur with property transactions.
"As well as being important for the individuals involved in the buying and selling process, it's also important for the industry."
The Government thinks the cost of producing a pack will be about £635 - which will fall to the
seller - but that could vary from one provider to another.
