Local businesspeople talk about their jobs and lifestyle. Today, Mike Newnham, business coach

Where were you born?

Darlington, County Durham - the birthplace of the Railway

What was your first Job?

Research Engineer for an aerospace coatings company in Weston-super-Mare. Loved that.

How would you describe your current job?

Intense. Totally satisfying. Big fun.

I have the real privilege to work with some fantastic characters from so many different walks of life.

What sort of house do you live in?

A cosy converted barn in an idyllic little village near the Malvern Hills.

What sort of car do you drive?

A muddy one.

What is your greatest achievement?

Creating and leading the team that developed the UK's first micro-turbine. For that tiny band of plucky Brits who take an interest in such things, it was a small highly efficient, ultra-low emissions, gas turbine that ran at 90,000 rpm on magnetic bearings. It was a world-beating machine, very cool, and totally British.

What is your biggest regret?

I'm not the regretting type. It would have been nice to have spent less getting divorced.

What would you like to change about your life?

If there is something I want to change, I change it.

What makes you angry?

Spending so much getting divorced.

What bad habits do you have?

You'd have to ask my partner Theresa, but it might have something to do with leaving a trail of destruction everywhere I go - I'm not the tidiest of people but I may be the clumsiest.

What do you do to relax?

Laugh. Drink. Play guitar. Friends.

What is your favourite restaurant/bar?

Can't beat Caf Zam Zam in Malvern for atmosphere. Drummonds, too.

What is your favourite TV show?

No idea what's on these days, but I used to love the stuff Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer did.

What is your favourite holiday destination?

France. Anywhere is good.

What do you hate/like about where you live?

I've lived all over the UK and I lived in Switzerland for five years. But I just don't think you can beat Worcestershire.

Who is your best friend?

The love of my life, my partner Theresa.

Who is your greatest hero and why?

John Peel. Huge impact on me.

Which household chore do you hate most?

Making the bed.

What is your biggest extravagance?

Wasting time.

What would you do first if you won a million pounds?

Build a recording studio to help young (and not so young) bands make their own music.

Write your own epitaph.

I would feel pretty proud if I could justify this: "He made a difference. To his family. To his friends. To his colleagues, and the people he met."
