Bigger premises, better facilities - that is what exclusive hairdressers, Umberto Giannini, reckon they've got since moving from Coventry Street to their new salon on Oxford Street in Kiddermin-ster last November.

The new facilities have a bigger and brighter reception area and Giannini's five stylists and four assistants have a much larger 12 sections to cut and treat their clients' hair.

The extra space means Giannini will also be able to offer their customers a manicure service from their new nail technician in February. Indeed, they are looking for extra experienced qualified stylists so if you are interested check out the factfile.

The salon is a fitting legacy to Umberto Giannini - a local man and well-respected hairdresser. After training in London and the USA, Giannini was the youngest ever winner of the British Hairdresser of the Year awards in 1999.

He became a stylist to the stars - his clients included Madonna, Leonardo DiCaprio, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Naomi Campbell and Ulrika Jonsson. He was a familiar face on GMTV and the BBC's Clothes Show and Style Challenge.

Sadly, Umberto died five years ago. His legacy lives on through 10 other award-winning Giannini salons.

The Kidderminster salon was the first of the Umberto Giannini group to open some 17 years ago.

Umberto Giannini salons use L'Oreal Kerastase products and their own range of hair care treatments - everything from hair straightening shampoos and serums to conditioners, blow dry creams and frizz free finishers - which are sold in major supermarkets and chemists across the UK.

"Our new salon offers customers a better experience," says senior stylist Gregg Westwood. "There is more space and a more modern feel. It will continue to be the same high quality hair care you would expect and will always get."

A cut and blow dry starts at £22 (rising to £35 for a senior stylist) and colourings range from £25 for a semi permanent colour to £70 for full highlights.

The Kidderminster salon is open between 9am and 6pm on Monday to Wednesday, from 9am until 8pm on Thursday and Fridays, and from 8.15am to 4pm on Saturdays.
