Safe, dry and cheap. That is the claim of the refurbished Swan Shopping Centre car park in the heart of Kidderminster.

The six-storey car park, which has some 400 parking spaces, has undergone a major renovation which has seen the installation of 31 security cameras (including in each of the car parks three lifts), fresh painting and new lighting.

Security and peace of mind have been at the heart of changes.

Walkways have been clearly marked and each floor has been repainted a different colour so even if you can't remember on which level you have parked, at least you might recall the colour.

This is also handy for children.

There are improved disabled facilities, too, with 23 disabled parking spaces and a new ramp to the lifts.

There are disabled facilities in the Swan Centre toilets, situated close to the car park.

The renovations are family-friendly too.

There are now nine clearly marked parent and toddler spaces available and baby changing facilities in the toilets near to the car park (handy for changing your little one before or after shopping).

In fact, parking at the Swan means you can get from the car to the Swan Centre shops without getting wet.

The car park has also won a prestigious Safer Parking award and achieved a Park Mark insignia from the British Parking Association and the Association Chief Police Officers (ACPO) for the second year running.

Not that these developments have seen a rise in prices. The Swan remains a pay and display car park.

Twenty spaces on the ground floor level near to the entrance are reserved for shoppers who are nipping into town for less than an hour (it costs just 50p for one hour on the rear ground floor).

Longer-stay rates have been pegged, too. It costs just 60p to park for two hours, £1.30 for three hours, or £3 to park all day.

Some town centre workers and businesses have already halved their parking costs by benefiting from the Swan's competitively priced season tickets which start at £50 a car per month, going up to £80 for three months, £120 for six months and £225 for an entire year.

Indeed, whether at work or shopping you can also return to a sparkling clean vehicle thanks to the Swan Centre's seven days a week car valeting service within the car park. Prices begin at a competitive £4.99 for a wash, wax and wheel clean with full valet services starting at £9.99 a car depending on the level of sprucing up your precious vehicle requires, including tyre blackening to get rid of that decolouring salt and grime gathered during the winter months.

And, of course, there is a wide and varied range of stores all under one roof within Kidderminster's biggest shopping centre.

The car park is open at 6.30am from Mondays until Saturdays, closing at 6pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturdays - with late nights on Thursday and Friday when the car park is open until 8pm.

Sunday hours are from 8.30am until 4pm.
