Forty-one ladies enjoyed a delicious taste of Italy at the latest Limited Edition Ladies' Lunch on January 16, described as a "wedding reception" to celebrate the marriage of food and wine.
The Country Girl in Stoke Prior served up a fabulous feast of Tuscan-style food to sample, including cold meats, salads and pasta, while owner and wine expert Tim Churchman shared his wisdom in a 'back to basics' wine-tasting session. Each guest was able to try small glasses of rose, white and red wine, accompanied by cheese, pear and lemon slices plus salt and pepper, in order to appreciate the effect different foods have on our perception of a wine's flavour.
A raffle in support of Red Caps, a disabled children's charity, raised £200, with tickets kindly sold by Jenny Paddock. Maureen Baker of Stourton won a meal for two at the Country Girl, while Mrs P Tilley of Bournheath won a bouquet of flowers courtesy of Limited Edition.
There will be another Ladies' Lunch at the Country Girl in June - look out for details nearer the time.
