Ladies Fighting
Breast Cancer
Charitable Trust
The charity was formed in 2000 by Sue MacMaster and Veronica Kennedy, who had lost their good friend Carole Knaggs to breast cancer. Sue had also suffered from the disease and was already involved in fundraising for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where she had been treated. She and Veronica, after talks with the hospital's breast surgeon, David England, and breast care nurse, Liz Hopkins, decided to set up the charity in order to raise money for the Breast Cancer Centre at the Queen Elizabeth.
Since then, thanks to money raised by Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer, the centre has been able to purchase a large amount of medical equipment facilitating faster and more accurate diagnosis and treatment, including a £70,000 mobile breast-screening unit for use by the South Birmingham Breast Screen Service attached to the hospital.
During 2005, Limited Edition raised £2,604 for the charity through our Ladies' Lunches, and we hope to raise plenty more this year, especially from the major event at Spring Grove House. If you would like more information about donating or raising money for Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer, call Sue MacMaster on 01562 884002.
A very special Limited Edition Ladies' Lunch will take place on March 23, with the intention of raising as much money as possible for the charity Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer. The spectacular venue is Spring Grove House, a 200-year-old Georgian building in the grounds of the West Midlands Safari Park, near Bewdley, and the day will include beauty demonstrations, a raffle and an auction as well as the buffet lunch, coffee and wine.
As well as a full programme of demonstrations offering the latest hair, beauty and style tips, ladies will be able to buy a range of items and take advantage of various special offers on the day. After lunch, witness the hottest summer looks in a fashion show organised by Debut of West Hagley and Noir of Bewdley. Debut offers designer occasionwear and Noir provides sexy swimwear.
The charity auction and raffle include fantastic items such as:
