The Haberdashers' Monmouth Schools have seen another year of outstanding results for their pupils, not just in last summer's A-level and GCSE results, but also in the fields of sport, music and cultural exchanges.

The family of schools caters for children aged from three through to 18. Starting with Haberdashers' Agincourt School, a co-educational pre-prep school with nursery for children aged from three to seven, and moving on to the single-sex prep schools - the Gilbert Inglefield House for girls aged seven to 11, and The Grange for boys.

From 11 to 18, the senior schools are Monmouth School and Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls.

Entrance to the schools is selective from seven, but great care is taken to assess children on a wide range of abilities and to look for potential not just test performance.

In 2005, both Monmouth School and Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls gained a 100 per cent pass rate at A-level and a 98.5 per cent GCSE pass rate. Sixty eight pupils across the two schools gained at least three A grade A-levels and 11 students were accepted at Oxford and Cambridge.

GCSE results were similarly impressive with over 90 per cent of the grades A* to B at the two schools and eight candidates singled out amongst the top five in the UK by their examining boards in a range of subjects.

However, the schools' academic successes do not overshadow their success in sport, where they gained national honours in rowing, lacrosse, rugby, cricket, fencing, dance, badminton and swimming to name but a few.

Pupils, from three right through to 18, are encouraged to enjoy a wide range of sporting activities and the facilities are superb, with ultra-modern swimming pools, fully-equipped gyms, all-weather pitches and over 20 acres of playing fields at both HMSG and Monmouth School.

Other elements which contribute so much to the broad education on offer at the Haberdashers' Monmouth Schools are music, drama, and foreign expeditions. There is a fully equipped music rehearsal and recording studio and drama studio at HMSG and Monmouth School opened its new 550 seat performing arts centre, the Blake Theatre, last Summer.

The schools visited Malawi and Japan this year, following on from World Challenge expeditions to Borneo, Ecuador, Madagascar, Pakistan and Tanzania in previous years.
