When it comes to mobility equipment, finding the right product to suit your needs can be daunting. Family-run business Magbility prides itself on supplying top-quality products tailored to individual requirements, and designed to offer a high degree of independence and freedom to anyone with mobility problems.
Since the first branch opened in Fairfield eight years ago, Magbility has expanded to three locations in Birmingham, and offers a vast range of mobility aids and products. Because the company is independent, its team of experienced care advisors can give unbiased advice as well as providing excellent customer service.
Stair-lifts are one of Magbility's main sellers, and managing director Mike Grant estimates the company has installed over 900 in the local area. "Being an independent provider means that we can supply stair-lifts from the leading British manufacturers: Stannah, Bison, Minivator and Brooks," he points out.
Magbility can fit stair-lifts to all types of staircase, from straight to curved to spiral, with a 24-hour fitting service. The company's own engineers visit a client's home to take measurements, before returning to carry out the installation meaning customers maintain contact with the same person throughout. The initial home survey is free of charge, and all lifts come with a 12 months warranty.
The firm also specialises in wheelchairs and mobility scooters, with basic and luxury models available. The range of stylish scooters includes models with full lighting and suspension for road use, with many folding to a fraction of their size for ease of transport. Power-chairs, for indoor and outdoor use, feature rear-wheel drive, anti-tip wheels and a manual braking system.
Riser-recliner chairs are ideal for elderly as well as disabled people, and Magbility can tailor a chair to a customer's exact needs. "We have the chairs made to measure and cushioned according to size and height," Mike explains. "Although the business has grown considerably, we are still small enough to be able to take different disabilities into account."
In addition to the main product range, Magbility sells aids to make daily life easier for mobility-restricted clients. The ingenious gadgets assist with such tasks as opening bottles and cans, putting on shoes and socks or crushing tablets, while special mattresses, pillows and cushions are also available.
With customer service such a priority, it is not surprising that 78 per cent of Magbility's business this year has come via customer recommendations. A home demonstration service is in operation, and there's a money-back guarantee should a product prove unsuitable.
