A visit to a Cotswold manor house proved to be a huge draw for RGS The Grange pupil Hannah McCombe.
Ten-year-old Hannah was visiting National Trust property Snowshill Manor, the former home of eccentric collector Charles Paget Wade, when she was invited to take part in The Big Draw - a national campaign to get everyone drawing.
Professional artist and illustrator Simon Davis, who lives and works in Worcestershire, asked Hannah and her younger brother Guy, who is in year two at RGS The Grange, to wander around the house and gardens and seek inspiration for a drawing of either a ship or a sea monster.
Armed with clipboards and pencils, the pair did just that - making simple sketches of some of the thousands of fascinating treasures collected by Charles Wade and of interesting structures in the arts and crafts-style gardens.
Those initial sketches led Hannah to produce a portrait of a Medusa-like sea monster, which really grabbed the judges' attention.
Simon said: "All the creations were great, which makes any kind of decision difficult as they were all so imaginative and creative.
"But we chose Hannah's picture because if you were really to meet her monster it would be absolutely terrifying. It was a really great design."
Hannah received a set of coloured pencils, a T-shirt and Simon's own interpretation of a sea monster, which he signed for her.
"I really didn't expect to win," said Hannah. "But I'm thrilled, especially with Simon's drawing."
